Shopping In California

I’m away on holiday this week in Los Angeles. This is my fifth visit to California so I’m not waiting in line to be a member of a live studio audience for The price Is ideal (that was my first trip eight years ago) or off to Disneyland. I’m just hanging out with friends, shopping and eating stuff we can’t get in Canada (mainly Pinkberry frozen yogurt).

I’ve been to my friends’ Blake and Laura’s shop in Santa Monica three times considering that Saturday and whenever I come back it looks different. It’s called Hoot & Heart household Horticulture. Flowers, garden design, events, furniture, home objects and accessories — they do it all.

Today they unpacked a large buy of pottery in different glazes and shapes. You can see they look great on their own as displayed on the long table in the centre of the store, but they look even better filled with their incredible fresh flowers or succulents.

My much-loved items are the vintage pewter, the amber glass bottles and custom-made metal lanterns — some are wired for a lightbulb, others can be used with candles.

Their online store must be up and running next week and they will ship to Canada!
